In a study conducted, glycogen synthesis was inhibited by both bortmannin and LY294002, anti-PI-3-kinase inhibitors. Insulin receptor analysis showed that the receptor was phosphorylated upon exposure to MHCP. Twenty-three eligible trials were identified and twelve were included. Nine trials provided data suitable for statistical pooling. Meta-analysis revealed a small, statistically significant difference in weight loss favoring HCA versus placebo (MD: -0.88 kg; 95% CI: -1.75, -0.00).
